Recommended Authors that are at Faeriecon 2010(non-young adult) [Aug. 25th, 2010|10:31 am]

Well, it looks like this year's Faeriecon is shaping up to be really awesome.

I was looking at the list of guest authors and I realized that I have no idea who a lot of them are.

So I was hoping for some help.

Are there any of the authors that you have read that you would recommend for a non-young adult reader(my tastes run more toward William Gibson and HP Lovecraft than JK Rowling)?  I'd like to be able to say that I know at least a few of the author's work.

Thanks for your help!

Jane Yolen is ace!!!! I read her stuff way way back, and it wasn't sissyish or anything, but generally inventive takes on traditional tales: not rewrites, but sort of like actual fairytales but she made them up and they weren't babyish or copying others. There are tons of short stories, if you want to try some--no titles come to mind, but I genuinely liked her back when.
